Our mission is to help families dealing with the Autism Spectrum Disorder and related disabilities by providing resources and direct support; to empower families to connect and assist each other through social support programs; to further the education of families, professionals and members of the community in order to embrace the autistic population. This is accomplished through online and in-person support groups. SOAK has become a trusted source of information and support to local families and individulas with autism as well as accepting families with different needs, regardless of the diagnoses. SOAK hosts several opportunities for social interaction for children and their parents:
- Online Facebook support page (closed and moderated for privacy)
- Twice monthly playdates at the Melbourne Mall for ages 0-5, but older children are welcome as well
- Monthly coffee/breakfast dates for parents and caregivers
- Game nights for teens and pre-teens
- Monthly parent support meetings
