We get it. You want to have fun with your family, but you don't want to spend a lot of money. We've got 10 ideas for completely FREE summer fun in South Brevard.
1. Visit a playground
Check out a beloved or new-to-you park! Our updated Parks Guide will be available soon!
2. Splash at The Avenue Viera or West Melbourne Community Park
Both of these splash pads are totally free and a great way to cool off. Community pools are not free, but reasonably priced. More information on these places can be found in our Swim & Splash Guide.
3. Check out the library
Visit one of the library branches that serve South Brevard - there are nine to choose from! They have a full schedule of free programming available this summer (it's on our event calendar!). There are also computers available at each branch, and the West Melbourne Branch has a large children's room with puzzles, games, and stuffed toys.
4. Enjoy a beach day
There's nothing better than some sand between your toes and salt in your hair! The best part... it's totally free!
5. Go bowling
Shore Lanes Palm Bay participates in the Kids Bowl Free initiative. This article has more information and a registration link to get your child signed up for free bowling. Please note that you will need to rent (or bring) bowling shoes).
6. See a movie
Every day at 11 am, CWTheaters West Melbourne has a family-friendly movie that kids can watch for free! Adults cost $2 or are free with the donation of a non-perishable pet food item. New movies premiere on Fridays. Click here to see the summer schedule.
7. Participate in a reading rewards program
Not only can reading be a great boredom buster, but it will help lessen the dreaded academic "summer slide". We have a list of rewards programs that your child can participate in to help make reading a bit more fun.
8. LaPorte Farms
While this is located in Sebastian, we feel that it's worth a mention! Kids can see all sorts of critters at LaPorte Farms. The best part? It's free! There is a donation box if you are able to donate.
9. Community Service
Volunteer together as a family for community clean-up events, food drives, or other local opportunities to give back to the community. Kids love to help out, and teens often need volunteer hours!
10. Check the Macaroni KID South Brevard Calendar for free events
We have all the free summer events we can find on our Macaroni KID South Brevard events calendar, which is always free to view! You can also sign up for our free e-newsletter that will keep you in the know about happenings relevant to local families!
Bonus: We share fun at-home activities in our weekly e-newsletter! If you're looking for a craft, STEAM activity, or easy recipe to try with your kids, be sure to check out our latest articles.
