Not sure whether your preschooler is ready to start school? Gymboree's School Skills class is designed to be a stepping stone to preschool, VPK or Kindergarten and it is the perfect alternative to daycare! This is a drop-off program that introduces kids to being independent of their parent. This class includes independent and group learning activities that require cooperation and self-awareness while encouraging communication with peers. School Skills will help your child develop confidence and important development skills that help prepare them for school!
There are 5 main components to the class:
- A social-emotional focus, for example cooperation or effective communication. We find games, activities and projects to promote these important life skills.
- A letter, number or shape of the day which we practice writing and recognizing.
- Centers that allow the children to work in small groups and experience multiple manipulative areas of the room while having focused play.
- Science experiments that engage senses and curiosity in the world around them.
- Play time! They run, jump, share, sing, dance, build and have fun!

School Skills is offered 3 times a week: Monday, Wednesday & Friday
The 1 hour School Skills class is for children 2.5-5 years old and the 2 hour School Skills class is for 3-5 year olds. You may choose to enroll kids between 3-5 years old in both the 1 hour and 2 hour classes so they can be there for a full 3 hours.
Prices start at $85 a month for one 1 hour class per week. Please call for a complete pricing list. There is no registration fee.
**If a child is not restroom independent a parent must stay near-by in order to assist with diapers.
If you are not ready for the drop-off class, you may want to try an Explorers Class (for 2 year olds and their parent). After select 45 minute Explorers classes they offer a mini drop-off for 30 minutes where parents stay in the building while children are introduced to being independent with their teacher.
