Last weekend, I got to experience something heavenly. Well, maybe not clouds literally parting and dropping a million dollars in my lap. But, I was able to open up my laptop, check out shipt.com and place an online order for GROCERIES! That's right, people, GROCERIES! You see, Shipt is a grocery delivery service that serves cities across the country, including all of South Brevard! They partnered with Publix, and now you don't even have to leave your home to get your shopping done!
Through Shipt's mobile or desktop app, you can browse a large selection of grocery items available at Publix, Costco (in select areas) or ABC Wine and choose a convenient time for your delivery, based on one hour increments. For example, Thursday evening I put together my list and selected for it to be delivered Friday morning between 8:00-9:00am. A Shipt Shopper then visited Publix to hand pick and deliver my items to me! They can even do this as soon as one hour after the order is placed - wow!
Similar to Amazon Prime, Shipt is a membership based service. For one full year of unlimited grocery deliveries, you pay only $99! Plus, if your order is over $35 your delivery is free! Otherwise, there is a $7 delivery fee.
You can be very precise while ordering, which I love! You can ask for under-ripened bananas. You can ask for hard avocados. You can ask for oranges that are smaller than others! Seriously, it's like the Starbucks of grocery shopping! Just be sure to tip your delivery guy well if you're going to be difficult ;)
The morning of my delivery, my Shipt Shopper (Jason), gave me a call around 7:30 to check in and make sure I didn't want to add anything to my order. He then texted me around 7:45 to let me know he was on his way to my house and at 7:55 am he sent me another text informing me he was at my home. What a guy!
Not only that, but he brought my groceries into my home and put them in the fridge, freezer and cabinets for me. Some of my items had to go in my trunk for a Shipt Grilling Party I was holding that evening. And guess what? That's right - he loaded those ones in my trunk. Jason, you rock! (Shipt, please take note that Jason is just the best ever)
Shipt was so cool and helpful that I threw a par-tay, ya'll! A Macaroni Kid Shipt Grilling Party for my lovely Macaroni Mom Tribe. We had Publix steaks marinated in the most amazing Asian Ginger Soy marinade, Chimichurri Marinade as well as straight up salt and pepper. We had Publix chicken wings, zucchini and a bunch of sides!
Thank you Shipt for bringing the party to us, instead of me having to shop for the party!
