NestFresh Eggs: Mom Approved!

By Amanda Aharon, Owner & Publisher of Macaroni Kid South Brevard December 20, 2019

As parents, it is a constant struggle to figure out what we should feed our kids. With warnings about pesticides, chemicals, and GMO's it can be hard to know what foods we can trust. Add picky eaters on top of it and mealtimes are nearly impossible. Thankfully, I found NestFresh Eggs, a product I can truly feel good about feeding my family.

NestFresh Eggs are guaranteed fresh, non-GMO, from locally-sourced farms that are committed to animal welfare and stewardship of the land. I love knowing my eggs come from hens that are well-nourished and roam cage-free.

I've always been health-conscious, but once I had my son my need for all-natural products intensified, some may even call me a "crunchy mom." My family eats (mostly) vegetarian so people always ask where we get our protein from. There is tons of non-meat protein in dairy, beans, soy and quinoa, but my family’s favorite non-meat protein is eggs.

Each egg contains about 6 grams of high-quality protein as well as vitamins A, E, K and B.  There are also a million different ways to eat them. Scrambled eggs for breakfast, Chaffles for lunch (mix egg and cheese and put mixture in a waffle maker), and a Veggie Power Bowl for dinner (roasted potatoes and vegetables topped with a soft boiled egg.)

Earlier this week we hosted Cookies & Coffee with Santa where we got to introduce NestFresh Eggs to parents in South Brevard. For this event, we decided to make sugar cookies. Eggs are super important in baking cookies as they add stability and moisture. My son and his friend had a blast making the cookies, cracking eggs and tossing flour at each other. Including kids in the kitchen may take longer and be a lot messier, but it is also a lot of fun.

Our Cookie decorating party was a big success! We got to introduce over 100 people to NestFresh Eggs. I felt great sharing a product with parents that I truly trust. Everyone loved the cookies and the kids had a blast decorating them. We even got Santa Claus’ approval.

NestFresh Eggs believe healthy hens lead to healthy eggs. I chose NestFresh Eggs for my family because I believe healthy eggs lead to healthy kids! Sugar Cookie Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup butter (room temperature)
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 NestFesh Eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients into a large bowl. In a separate bowl cream together butter and sugar. Once the mixture looks "fluffy", add 1 egg at a time. Then add vanilla, mix until blended. Slowly add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Once all ingredients are combined, place the dough in the fridge for at least one hour before baking. Make 1 inch balls and bake about 10 minutes. Makes about 2 dozen.
